The SF Marathon will be running through San Francisco Sunday morning from west to east SF, starting early in the morning. The route will go east on Haight St. to Buchanan, then to Guerrero. The marathon is expected to affect the traffic in the church’s area at least through 11:30 A.M. If you are driving, please plan your trip accordingly.
Barb and Jack will be moving. So on Sunday, August 16, 1 - 4 PM Klings' Art Gallery at the residence of Jack and Barbara Kling, will provide an opportunity to see Jack's art displayed. 10% of sales will go toward the St. Francis Thanksgiving Dinner. Thanks to Sarah Wells for the idea.

Morgan Yasemin Orun is the new daughter of Denise and Sky Orun. Morgan was born on June 19th, weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 inches in length.
Congratulations, Denise and Sky!

Sunday is the last day to reserve tickets for the symphony concert on Thursday, September 10. The Concert recreates the Opening Night concert program with Michael Tilson Thomas and pianist Ilya Yakushev:

Though we had 100 registered walkers, we had only 35 walkers in the park, probably 15 or so less than last year. Of these 35, only 6 were from the geography department. Our preliminary total gives us $30,185 (compared to $29,530 last year). We have until August 14 to collect checks, so I’m urging everyone to continue to be alert and collect more if possible.
Our final total last year was $43,204, so I am hoping we can collect about $15,00 more this year.
Thanks to everyone who participated, with special thanks to Clifton King for making coffee, Carl Tebell for preparing and serving us lunch, Timur Muhrlin and Lawrence Mortensen for transporting food and supplies to the park, to the Klings for storing our placards, and to Pastor Dawn for tabulating team totals.
Gabriel and I are in Encinitas, CA, this Sunday but will be back next week. Maxie

Walk around Lake Merced followed by a Big Rumble Block Party!!
CROP Hunger Walks help children and families worldwide -- and right here in the U.S. -- to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow. Each year some two million CROP Walkers, volunteers, and sponsors put their hearts and soles in motion, raising over $16 million per year to help end hunger and poverty around the world -- as well as here in our backyard of San Francisco. Come and be a part of this walk to end hunger on October 18!
The 2009 San Francisco CROP Walk, our 30th year, will benefit the San Francisco Food Bank, the San Francisco Interfaith Council Winter Shelter Program, as well as Church World Service, the sponsoring organization that provides a broad range of poverty fighting projects around the world.

Pr. Megan Rohrer has written Queerly Lutheran, Ministry Rooted in Tradition, Scripture and the Confession. This book, published by Wilgefortis, examines the roots of Lutheran tradition and delivers Good News to Lutherans of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
Copies of the book are available at St Francis for $20.00, of which $5.00 will go to Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries. Please contact Dave Walda or one of the pastors if you are interested in a copy.
