If you are gay or lesbian, age 50 or above, and also the partner to a biological grandparent, you are needed for an interview for a university-related research project. The results from these interviews will better inform us about the role of gay and lesbian grandparents and stepgrandparents in the lives of their families.

Dr. David Jenkins, a professor of social work, is in charge of this project and Judith Levin, MSW will be available for confidential interviews during the months of August and September. Each participant will get a $30 gift certificate for their time in the project. If you are interested in participating or know of someone that may be interested, please email to D.jenkins@tcu.edu. FOOD BASKET DONATIONS

St. Francis was recently the recipient of at least 50 lbs of food dropped off by a family from our area. This family had obviously just been to Costco and with the help of their two boys, brought in all kinds of food. Some of the food will be used for the Thanksgiving dinner, and some for the Hospitality Hour meals served on Sunday.

St. Francis can use canned soups, vegetables beans, noodles and canned meats for the Hospitality Hour. Donations of the large packages of individually wrapped granola bars, cookies and crackers can also be given to our guests that attend the Hospitality Hour. Contact Chuck Hancock if you have questions about other food that can be used. Food not used at St Francis will be turned over to the San Francisco Food Bank.

BULLETIN #12

August 20, 2008

Last Friday afternoon I met with our team coordinator and together we went through our team roster. Thirty one Lutheran (and friends Tyler and David) raised a total of $19,950. Twenty one Geographers raised a total of $9,837—$300 was donated just to the team. And I raised $13,117. Add all that together and we get $43,204. Yea!

All of the Lutherans were regulars, having walked before, and most have done this every year since we began as a team in 1996. A huge thank you to the nine Lutherans raising over $1000: Jim Asp, Sylvia Braselmann, Grant Burger, Richard Copperud, Greg Egertson, Bruce Jervis, Paul Johnson, Anika Orun and Gabriel Proo. An equally big thank you to the other Lutherans: Diane DeLange, Robert Goldstein, Bev Hines, Marilyn Jackson, Greg Jahnke, Hans-Christian Kasper, Brian Knittel, Jim Kowalski, Steve Lawson, Leona Lee, Michael Mallory, Carol Moilan, Mehmet Orun, Nancy Record, Tyler Reed, Robin Ressler, Eric Shifler, David Somers, Carl Tebell, Sarah Wells and Marsha White.

Photos of the walk will be on display during Coffee Hour.
