LC/NA GIVES OUT AWARDS AT HEARTS ON FIRE |
| Lutherans Concerned North America awarded the Jim Siefkes Justice– Maker Award to the Reverend Jayne Thompson for her years of work with voting members at both Synod Assemblies and Churchwide Assemblies, and to Dr. Bennett Falk for his role in organizing Goodsoil.org. The awards were presented at last week’s Hearts on Fire assembly. |
| The Jim Siefkes Justice– Maker Award was established in 1990 to recognize “superior and tireless efforts of straight allies on behalf of GLBT Lutherans”. This award is named in honor of the Reverend Jim Siefkes (left) who obtained funding in 1974 for and convened the initial meeting that resulted in the formation of Lutherans Concerned for Gay People.

CONGRATULATIONS JEANNINE! |
 |
Our own Jeannine Janson was given a special award at Hearts on Fire. Lutherans Concerned recognizes the valuable contribution Jeannine has made to them in time and money over the last 6 years on the national board. She has been a steady, capable leader and helped propel Lutherans Concerned forward towards their new mission. The distinguished service award is named the Janson Distinguished Service Award in her honor. An endowment fund was also established in her name. We all know how hard-working and valuable Jeannine is and now all her service to Lutherans Concerned has been formally recognized.
Pictures from the event and more details will be in future issues of The Times.

 | BULLETIN #7 July 9, 2008 |
Here’s what I know: As of this morning, our team had collected $5,705 on-line. Is this good or bad? If we compare this with last year, as of July 3, 2007, we had collected $8,475. So we be significantly behind.
Am I discouraged? Strangely not. If we just keep at it– you’ve all received my incredibly helpful e-mail on “how to raise skeds of penga with only the touch of a few keys” - if we just keep at it, we will wind up doing well.
My own track record this year remains tardy. As of today, I have mailed only 37 folks out of probably around 200. But remember we have until August 15tth to collect sponsors. I’ve heard from 12 sponsors who raised $1341 and another $25 on-line (Thanks, B & J).
So let’s just keep at it, OK? Thanks. Maxie

The 2nd Sunday team has a leader. The other teams’ members should select (or volunteer) a leader and inform the church office so it can be publicized in the Times and on the website. The website has the teams and usher duties. Look for the link on the homepage.
Other individuals may still sign up to usher. Please contact the church office to add your name.

YOUR PASTORS CARE
If you would like one of your pastors to listen to your concerns or pain, don't hesitate to ask us -make an appointment, or ask us to call you or mark the pew card. We can be distracted at times on Sundays, so it is best to set aside another time when we can really listen. Pastors Robert and Dawn
