Our annual journey through Lent to Holy Week has begun. Remember your nail to take along your Lenten journey as a reminder of Jesus’ love and give to that nail any sadness, any pain in your life. You will be invited to place that nail with all its gathered significance for you at the foot of the cross on Good Friday.
To help you on your Lenten journey members of the Stewardship committee are sponsoring small group meals and discussions. (See below) May God bless us as we grow in grace during Lent.

If you would like to attend the last week of the Lenten Journey, contact Bruce Jervis and Jim Kowalski February 25 at their home in Bernal Heights or Grant Burger, February. 28 at the church in the St. Clare's room. Groups for March and April will be announced later.
During the Sundays in Lent the Pastors will focus their sermons on Catechism and its meaning for today. This Sunday we will focus on the Sacrament of Baptism.

| Moscow, February 4, Interfax - The EAST/WEST - Sex & Politics documentary by German director Jochen Hick was shown at the Annual International Film Festival Berlinale this month. The film is about Russian sexual minority's attempts to hold a Gay Pride parade in Moscow. Hick and his colleagues visited Russia for two years. The director filmed the two unauthorized Moscow Gay Pride parades of May 2006 and |
May 2007, the protest against Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov during his meeting with other mayors in London, and a visit of Russian gay activists to the European Parliament. Hick's film will vie for the Teddy award as the best movie on gays and lesbians, Alexeyev said. St. Francis is listed as one of the financial contributors to the film’s production costs. | |
Members have raised concerns regarding homeless persons and access of members and visitors to St. Francis on Sunday mornings. We pastors encourage the St. Francis community to consider prayerfully the complex situation we are all trying to address and we recommend to Church Council that the next Fifth Sunday Forum on March 30th be devoted to a congregational discussion towards a faithful response of these matters.
Pastors Robert Goldstein and Dawn Roginski
In the meantime, please bring any concerns you have to Council members & the Pastors so that we can assure they are appropriately addressed.
If you would like one of your pastors to listen to your concerns or pain, don't hesitate to ask us -make an appointment, or ask us to call you or mark the pew card. We can be distracted at times on Sundays, so it is best to set aside another time when we can really listen. Pastors Robert and Dawn
