Annual Meeting Feb 10 2008

WORSHIP PARTICIPANT TRAINING TODAY

The second training session will take place after Worship this morning. Anyone that could not stay last time, and wants to learn another position is encouraged to go get coffee and return for the training.

Sunday, we celebrate RIC Sunday. A growing number of churches welcome people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. To celebrate this hospitality, the fourth Sunday of January each year is set aside as "welcoming" Sunday. In the Lutheran tradition, we call this day RIC Sunday.

Begun in 1983, Reconciling in Christ (RIC) is a program for Lutheran communities of faith to answer the inclusive call of the Gospel by welcoming people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. Currently, there are over 400 settings of the Lutheran church on the RIC roster, including congregations, campus ministries, synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Churches in both Canada and USA, one camp, other independent organizations, and colleges of the ELCA.

Additional information about the RIC program, including a complete listing of RIC settings and resources for personal and congregational use, are available on-line at the website www.lcna.org.

BELCHER STREET TASK FORCE

The Task Force has over fifteen members including two from the Childcare Center and has had one organizational meeting. For the next several months, the Task Force will be in an information gathering mode - studying development options, talking to the community and to potential partners. The Task Force hopes to have a Phase 1 report to the congregation sometime in the late fall.

LUTHERAN AND EPISCOPAL BISHOPS TO LEAD WORSHIP

Lutheran Bishop David Mullen will preach and Episcopal Bishop Marc Andrus will preside on Feb. 2nd at St. Mark’s to mark Candlemas.

YOUR PASTORS CARE

If you would like one of your pastors to listen to your concerns or pain, don't hesitate to ask us -make an appointment, or ask us to call you or mark the pew card. We can be distracted at times on Sundays, so it is best to set aside another time when we can really listen. Pastors Robert and Dawn
