SAN DIEGO MAYOR LISTENS

Mayor Jeffy Sanders of San Diego, California reversed his public opposition to same-sex marriage last Wednesday, while also revealing that his adult daughter is a lesbian. Mayor Sanders signed a City Council resolution supporting a legal fight to overturn California's prohibition on same-sex marriage.
He had previously said he would veto the resolution. "Two years ago, I believed that civil unions were a fair alternative," he said at a news conference. "Those beliefs, in my case, have since changed. The concept of a 'separate but equal' institution is not something that I can support."

WEEKLY STEWARDSHIP Q & A
What level of sacrifice should we give?
Proportionately! Christ sacrificed everything for us on the cross. We are called to sacrifice our gifts of talent, time and money so that others may share in God's Word and blessing.
FIFTH SUNDAY FORUM
Today, a 5th Sunday of the month, there will be a Fifth Sunday Forum after worship. Today's topic is an introduction to our real estate presented by the Property Committee. Members should have received a memorandum with information on the St. Francis properties. The Property Committee also hosts a generous coffee hour.
HAVE BRUNCH & BRING ORDER TO CHAOS
Come on Saturday, October 7th at 10 AM, and have brunch and fellowship. Lend a hand filing music from our choral library with members of the choir. There is a large backlog of musical scores which need to be organized and filed. Many hands make the work light. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to support our music program.

OUR CHOIR SEEKS SINGERS
The St. Francis Choir provides a great opportunity to make music together with a fun, diverse group. If you know of a friend or colleague who might have interest in singing, concerts and services with us, please invite them to either come on one Sunday for service and hear the choir sing and meet Dr. Schofield. They can also email or call the church office expressing interest in the choir. Commitment is minimal. Attendance every week is NOT mandatory, but operates on a come as you can basis. Rehearsals are Sundays at 9 AM.
ST FRANCIS AND FRIENDS SUSAN B KOMAN RACE TEAM

"Last Sunday 22 persons, (15 of them from St. Francis) participated in the Race fore the Cure, raising about $9,300, more than double the previous high. This race was particularly memorable since Pastor Robert was in it - the first time a pastor has joined in the fun. The planning committee of the St. Francis and Friends team - Nancy Burns, Deb Coté, Marilyn Jackson, Barbara Kling, Nancy Loewe and Pat Stein - want to thank everyone for their help and generous support.

CONTRIBUTE TO THE FOOD BASKET |
Please bring your food offering to church on Sunday mornings and leave it in the basket as you enter the sanctuary.
Food that can be accepted include: canned vegetables, canned fruit, tuna, canned meats, soups, stews and chili, peanut butter and cereal (no glass containers or perishable food, please). Some of the food will be used for Sunday’s Community Hospitality. The remaining donations will be given to the San Francisco Food Bank.-Pastor Dawn

COMMUNITY NIGHT ENDS
Community night has served many in the past and has been an important ministry of St. Francis. However, attendance recently has dropped down to none. Council has decided to cancel community night for the near future so more focus can be placed on starting the Sunday school. I will direct families towards the Sunday school. This decision will be reevaluated if interest in having a community night resurfaces. Pastor Dawn
