CORNERSTONE UPDATE
The 100th Anniversary Committee is planning for the reinstallation of the cornerstone we removed for the 100th Anniversary of the church building last year. The date for reinstallation is September 16, 2007, the 102nd anniversary of the laying of the original cornerstone on September 17, 1905. We want the congregation to see what we are putting in the cornerstone, so the actual reinstallation will take place after that.
We are limited to the size of the original lead box that was installed in 1905. The specific items have not been determined yet. With only a limited number of items to be placed in the box, an extensive list of commemorative items that could not fit will be placed in the cornerstone to be opened 100 years from now. The actual contents of that list are to be stored in the history room of the SF Public Library. The Library has agreed to participate.
Committee members are: Donna Petersen, Kirsten Havrehed, Max Kirkeberg, Gene Clark, Paul Groth, Pr. Robert Goldstein, Jim DeLange, chair.

Note: The final day to RSVP for the Gala Dinner is Friday June 8.
PASTOR ROBERT HEALING
(Pastor Robert had an emergency appendectomy last Monday at CPMC Davies. His doctors said he could be back to work this Tuesday, June 12th.)
I was waiting to be taken to the operating theater when I overheard the conversation in the next cubicle. The doctor was advising someone that he had a tumor in his eye and that they would do everything possible to remove the tumor without loss of sight in that eye -even though there was more than a minor risk because if the tumor is cut its poisonous fluids could blind him. Facing only an appendectomy, that put everything into perspective. I miss you all. Pastor Robert

HELP NEEDED NEXT WEEK
Some assistance will be needed next Thursday June 14th putting together the worship folder for next Saturday's Ordination Service. If you are available sometime on Thursday, call Dave Walda at the office, 621-2635, extension 10.
MORE ELCA SYNODS VOTING FOR LGBT JUSTICE
By Emily Eastwood, Director of LC/NA
The results from voting on memorials at synod assemblies of the ELCA this spring have been nothing short of astounding. This past weekend, seven additional synods passed Goodsoil Memorial #1 that requests the Churchwide Assembly to direct that changes be made to the ELCA documents, Vision and Expectations and Definitions and Guidelines for Discipline. These changes will lead to the elimination of policies precluding rostered service for candidates in committed same-gender relationships. The total number of synods which have passed Memorial #1 now stands at 15. Our original goal was to reach 10-12 synods passing Memorial #1 on policy change.
Sixteen more synod assemblies will meet this weekend (June 7-10), leaving only seven that will be held in the final weeks of June. We are reasonably confident that the Goodsoil memorials will pass in several of the sixteen.
What a powerful witness this is as we prepare for and make our way to the Churchwide Assembly meeting in Chicago this August.
Thanks be to God!
The Goodsoil Legislative Team
AIDS LIFECYCLE BIKE RIDE
Dale Leininger and Michael Mallory have been participating in the AIDS Lifecycle this past week. The trip started in San Francisco and ended on June 9 in Los Angeles. Gabriel Proo and Karen Oleson have accompanied the riders as roadies, carrying supplies and helping with other essential duties for such a worthwhile and important trip.
Both Dale and Michael have surpassed their fundraising goals. Those with computers can read and hear more about the week-long trip at http://aidslifecycle.typepad.com/. The website has much information.
Thursday, June 7th, was red dress day, when riders donned attire appropriate to the occasion.

SUNDAY CLASS
We are reading Diana Bass' Christianity For the Rest of Us, a real alternative to the religious right and a model with which to test St. Francis' vision.
In a couple of weeks, we will begin discussing Bishop John Spong's latest book, Jesus for the Non Religious. This is an explosive book. Pastor Robert
FIFTH SUNDAY FORUM
The next fifth Sunday, July 29th, will be our first Fifth Sunday Forum and it will combine the coffee hour with an open forum of Council and Congregation on our worship life. Another Fifth Sunday Forum is planned for September 30th as an open forum on our Property.
MONTHLY BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Coffee hour hosts who provide those great goodies on the last Sunday of the month are being asked to provide the birthday cake for the month's birthday recognition. This request is being made since the person who previously supplied the cake (Faye Robinson) is not in a position to do it anymore.
The church office will send reminders to persons signed up for the last Sunday.
AIDS WALK UPDATE
We now have 155 walkers - 60 from school and 75 from church. If all raise money and/or walk, we'll be significantly ahead of last year. I have access to on-line donations (remember what I said last week about effective and easy fundraising?) and as of June 5th, 3 geographers have raised $1990.00 while two Lutherans have raised $130.00. Church People - let's start soliciting on-line. Make a list of loved ones and relatives. Send out a short but persuasive email soliciting support. Sit back and be amazed at the responses.
This is from a geography student e-mail from last year, "I raised $640 and was able to do it in about one and a half weeks. I think that this amount is incredible because I never expected to raise so much money." It was incredible.
But friends, why not do it earlier than later? It will inspire team mates, erode my worries, and hopefully soften my whining. It's a win-win all around.
Finally, it's not too late to do tie-dye t-shirts. Get a clean white t-shirt to the office by June 15th and we'll make it gorgeous. Be sure to label your initials. Max Kirkeberg
