FRIENDS OF ST. FRANCIS CHILDCARE CENTER MOMENT

The Center’s back-yard is a wonderful natural setting, quite unique for a Childcare Center in urban San Fran-cisco. The children experience nature first-hand, such as when they saw a Cooper’s Hawk last Fall and were quiet enough to observe it for 10 minutes while it was perched in the chestnut and plum trees. Have you toured the Center lately? Call Sally Large to schedule a tour - 861-1818.

To order tickets for the Spring Fling Auction and Casino Night Saturday May 12, go to the Childcare Center website.

NEW FOUNDATION COMMITTEE APPOINTEES

The Foundation Committee is very pleased to announce the appointment of its two newest members: Susan Kools and Kristi Smith-Knutson. We welcome Susan and Kristi to the Foundation Committee, and hope you will join us in wishing them well as they begin their service to this important ministry of St. Francis. Thank you, Susan and Kristi!

SUNDAY CLASS

We are reading Diana Bass' Christianity For the Rest of Us, a real alternative to the religious right and a model with which to test St. Francis' vision.

FIFTH SUNDAY FORUM

The next fifth Sunday, July 29th, will be our first Fifth Sunday Forum and it will combine the coffee hour with an open forum of Council and Congregation on our worship life. Another Fifth Sunday Forum is planned for September 30th as an open forum on our Property.

AIDS Walk

AIDS WALK 2007

By now, 62 of you should have received your packets from AWSF. The 3 persons who signed up with me last Sunday will be receiving packets soon. This gives us 65 Lutherans (or partners) and 20 Geographers (and about 10 friends who don’t fit in either category) for a team total of about 95 persons. This is excellent for this stage of the game. You received something new in your packets this year: a couple of "Take One to Register" cards. This means you have a ridiculously easy way to entice two friends to join our team. Yes, I know that for every friend you solicit to join the team, that’s one less friend who will sponsor you. Believe me, I know. But think of the big picture - the higher good. A good compromise is to solicit from your low-end sponsors. -Max Kirkeberg

ATTENTION PRIDE PARADE & AIDS WALK PARTICIPANTS

If you are planning to walk in either the Gay Pride Parade or the AIDS Walk you need a Tie Dyed T-shirt. If you do not have one please bring a clean loose white T-shirt to church ASAP or bring it to the Tie Dye party held at St. Marks at 6 PM Saturday May 19th. For more information see Max Kirkeberg or Pastor Robert.

This notice is being emailed also to Robert James (& Keith Skelly) and Patrick (via Paul Brenner) because they have been identified as AIDS Walk walkers. Pastor Robert

MAX'S WALKING TOUR

At last year’s Gala, Max Kirkeberg offered a walking tour of the North Mission. No date was set, and by the time he remembered, the rainy season was upon us. The walk has been scheduled for Saturday May 12th from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. If it rains, the walk will be held on June 9th.

Five persons (the Olson twins & friend, and Dale & Mitch) cannot make either walk so a walk will be scheduled later in the summer.

It is hoped that the other walkers - Jim Asp, Brandee Marckmann, Sally Large, Denise Orun, Kirsten Havrehed, Sarah Wells, Marsha White, Mike Callahan and Robin Ressler - can make the walk on May 12th. It will begin in front of Mission Dolores, 16th Street and Dolores at 10 AM. If the above folks cannot make it or there are questions, call Max at 415-282-6022.
