BRING YOUR CALENDAR SUNDAY will be today and
next Sunday, August 13. This is your chance to sign-up
for the various Sunday morning worship opportunities -- coffee
hosts, altar flowers, ushers and lectors. Grant Burger
will be downstairs today and next Sunday, so if you would like
to sign-up, please talk with Grant. Also, if you are interested
in being a crucifer or assisting minister, let Grant or Ken Broshous
know of your interest.
NEXT SUNDAY, AUGUST 13, Greg Jahnke of
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Denise Burpee
of San Francisco Habitat for Humanity will be with us
to share information about Thrivent Builds. This is an
exciting new program that is building a home right here in San
Francisco. Work began on June 3rd and the home will be completed
by Christmas. Lutheran volunteers are especially needed
in order for Habitat to receive the $196,000 that Thrivent has
pledged to this project. Greg & Denise will be at worship
and at coffee hour to share the details and opportunity with
you.
THE CALL COMMITTEE THANKS ALL who submitted
the profile information. 52% of the mailed recipients responded.
Thanks also to those that attended the Sunday meetings. The comments
were very informative and greatly appreciated. The Call Committee
will use all of this information to draft the congregational
profile. Our goal is to advertise the position by the end
of August.
ADULT
STUDY GROUP All are invited to join us as we meet to
plan program material and subjects for future classes.

UPDATE ON THE ORGAN RENOVATION PROGRAM
THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN SO GENEROUS WITH GIFTS
AND PLEDGES. For those that have not made a gift or pledge, please
contact David Walda, Parish Administrator for a copy of
The Organ at St. Francis, or with any questions.
The end of the pledge period is August 6, 2006. All those that
contribute can dedicate their contribution in memory of, or in
honor of, someone.
POST-WALK UPDATE
I have finally heard from the AWSF office. They write As
of July 27, your team had pledges totaling $52,540, and had collected
$47,185. Until yesterday I thought my on-line statistics meant
credit card donations. When I combined those figures we had climbed
to $51,240 collected with $3,101 in outstanding pledges. I thought
we had a good chance of surpassing last years total of
$56,373. And we still might, but now Ive learned
on-line statistics can also include promised checks.
YETCH! Which means I dont have a reliable total to
report.
You can use any of the above figures
and yes, they are all suspect. In the meantime we are still in
the grace period where we can collect pledges from new sponsors.
The deadline is August 11. Keep me informed. And, yes, if Dale
ever wants to rest from his Treasurer office, you know I want
that job!
