FORMATION OF NEW CALL COMMITTEE

Sundays installation was a glorious day for St. Francis Lutheran Church. We have the right person, in the right place, at the right time. Thanks be to God for the ministry of Pr. Goldstein, and the work that lies ahead.

In step with this momentum-building event, the Congregational Council voted in its last meeting to move forward in forming a Call Committee whose task is to develop a process for selecting one or more candidates for the new pastoral position of Pastor of Parish Programs to be recommended to this congregation for call. The Nominating Committee has been informed and will be seeking members of the congregation willing to serve. The Council has tentatively scheduled Sunday, May 21 as the congregational meeting to conduct the election of this group. More details will follow.

IN OBSERVANCE OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY of the 1906 earthquake and fire, The San Francisco Interfaith Council is holding a one-hour Interfaith Prayer Service on Tuesday, April 18, beginning at 12:00 Noon at Old St. Mary's Church, California and Grant Avenue in Chinatown.  The service will remember those who died; honor those who rebuilt the city; and dedicate ourselves to be prepared.  Music by the Third Baptist Church Choir and the Chinese School Choir will be included.  Cantor Rita Glassman of Congregation Sherith Israel will also sing. The service will end at 12:55 p.m.

PFLAG SUPPORT GROUP APRIL 9: At 3 PM, Tom Ervin, Ph.D., and Member at Large of the Gay, Lesbian Bisexual, Transgender Psychotherapists Assoc. of the Greater Bay Area will be a guest speaker.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DR. ROBERT SMITH will be on April 8,  1 PM,  in the Chapel of the Cross at the Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley. Dr. Smith and his wife, Pastor Donna Duensing, have been long time supporters of St. Francis and Lutheran Lesbian and Gay Ministries.
